Afelia is cooked with pork but we have used mutton here. Before we present the recipe below, we let you know that Afelia is a taste of Greece. Well here is the recipe -
Difficulty Level: Average.
Category: Non-Vegetarian.
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Cuisine: Greek
Ingredients:
>> Boneless mutton - 400 gm. (cut into chunks)
>> Coriander powder - 2 tsp.
>> Castor sugar - ½ tsp.
>> Olive oil - 4 tbsp.
>> Onions sliced - 3 large size.
>> Salt and pepper to taste.
Methods:
1. Rub the coriander powder, salt and pepper in the mutton and marinade for about 3 hours.
2. Heat 3 tbsp of oil in a pan and brown the mutton pieces and then transfer to an ovenproof dish.
3. Add the remaining oil to the pan and fry the onions till translucent. Stir in the fruit wine and a little salt and pepper and bring it to boil. Pour this over the mutton and cover with a lid.
4. Bake in an oven till the mutton is tender.
Afelia is ready. Serve after garnishing with fresh coriander. Serve with bread, a salad and preferably with a few olives.
