Difficulty Level: Easy.
Category: Vegetarian.
Preparation Time:  15 minutes
Ingredients
=> 1 cup ready made puttu powder / mixture
=> 1 cup mung dal (kidney bean) paste
=> 1 ½ - 2 cups butter milk
=> Salt to taste
Method
You will need a traditional puttu maker or the one which fits on a pressure cooker.
Soak ¾th cup of mung dal (kidney bean) and grind to a wet paste to obtain a smooth daal (pulse) paste.
Mix the puttu mixture with the dal paste, the butter milk, and salt. Mix in a bowl gently with your fingers till it becomes fluffy. Pour into the puttu maker and steam with water in a pressure cooker for 6 - 8 minutes. Take care not to fill the entire puttu maker with the mixture since the puttu swells up and increases in size and will over-flow the container if you fill it to the brim. Better it should be filled half only. Divide the mixture into two portions and cook it separately twice.
If your puttu is well steamed then it will slide out once you remove the lid from the maker and turn it upside down.
Cut into circles and serve.
